Muscles Near The Delts

Muscles near delts, what are they?

There are three parts of the shoulder (deltoids). The anterior deltoid, medial deltoid, and posterior deltoid.

Because each section of the shoulder is located in a different position, they share varying neighboring muscles.

What Are Anterior Delts?

Anterior deltoids are the front most section of the shoulders. They participate in pushing movements and are responsible for lifting the arms straight forward.

Anterior deltoids are located near the chest, biceps, medial deltoids, and traps.

What Are Medial Delts?

Medial deltoids are the center most part of the should. They are a primary muscle during overhead pressing movements and also aid pushing movements.

The medial deltoids are located next to the traps, anterior deltoids, posterior deltoids, biceps, and triceps.

What Are Rear Delts?

The rear delts (posterior deltoids) are muscles located at the back of the shoulders.

There are three parts of the shoulder: anterior (front) deltoid, medial (side/middle) deltoid, and posterior (back) deltoid, which is commonly called the ‘rear delt.’

The rear delt is a prominent muscle that serves many functions for the body and is relevant in bodybuilding.

Rear delts are responsible for aiding in pulling movements. Due to this fact, many people include rear-delt exercises on their pull/back part of their split. However, doing rear delts with shoulder is common too.

Rear delts are necessary for shoulder stability and also retract the shoulders which is important for good posture.

The posterior deltoids are located near the traps, triceps, lats, rhomboids, and medial deltoids.

What Stimulates Muscle Growth?

What stimulates muscle growth (hypertrophy) is exercise-induced muscle damage.

During high-intensity weight training, micro tears occur in muscle fibers. These tears are then repaired and grow back slightly stronger and thicker than they were previously.

Adequate nutrients are necessary for this biological process to occur.

Do Pull-Ups Work The Rear Delts?

Since rear delts play a significant role in pulling movements, they will work hard during pull-ups.

Does Elliptical Build Muscle?

Since the elliptical does not put enough stress on the muscles to generate microtears, it is not capable of aiding muscle growth.

Sarcoplasmic vs Myofibrillar Hypertrophy

Hypertrophy is a term that describes exercise-induced muscle growth. However, there is more than one type of hypertrophy.

What Is The Hardest Muscle To Grow?

As I stated previously, from personal experience as a trainer, I have found that many people (especially beginners) struggle with the lats.

However, this is a subjective claim and everyone is different. It is likely that the muscle that is most difficult for you to grow is not the lats, but instead, one that is more difficult.
